7th Grade English/Language Arts
EZGB Course Description:
Seventh grade Core Language Arts is taught thematically by correlating historical fiction novels with the History chapters which cover Europe from the fall of the Roman Empire through the Enlightenment; China and Japan in the Middle Ages; the origin of Islam and the growth of Islamic empires as well as its spread to West African civilizations and the early civilizations of North, Central and South America. Students are taught discussion strategies, critical thinking, vocabulary development, and interpretive writing skills through inquiry-based units including short stories, novels, poetry, and plays. Students are given the opportunity to express themselves creatively through art projects, public speaking, and writing.

In this yearlong World History class students are taught thematically by correlating historical fiction novels with the History chapters which cover Europe from the fall of the Roman Empire through the Enlightenment; China and Japan in the Middle Ages; the origin of Islam and growth of Islamic empires as well as its spread to West African civilizations and the early civilizations of North, Central and South America. Emphasis is placed on recognizing commonalities and making connections across all History units. CORED with ELA and Reading classes.
